The Wayside Chapel

Wayside Teen Walk hosted by Andrew Windsor

Ever wondered what it's like to be homeless?

The Wayside Chapel is hosting an evening tour that goes into the nooks and crannies of Kings Cross to help people to understand what it's like to live on the streets of Sydney.

The tour host is Wayside employee and former rough sleeper, Andrew Windsor, who draws on his own experiences of homelessness and addiction to provide people with a rare insight into street life.

Description

The tour is unlike any you‘ll ever find in a guide book. It takes people around Kings Cross, Elizabeth Bay and Darlinghurst where Andrew points out spots of significance along the way – the places where he slept and ate, other charities that in are the area and moments of how he came to know Wayside so well.

This specific tour is designed for your teenage children to see what it's like to 'sleep rough' and get a better understanding of the complex issues in our society around homelessness and addiction. The age group is from 12-18 years old and every teenager on the tour needs to be accompanied by a parent or responsible guardian over 18.
